News from The Cat Box Corp.
28/07/11
Ok, it's not like nothing is happening on the music front, but until
now not much has manifested itself in the form of actual releases due
to the usual problem with time/money (se previous entries below). I
still haven't worked out how to continue this label and if you should
make the jump to CDs and printed covers or just get some of the music
that's been pilling up out on cdr soon.
Most of 2010 (I kid you not!) have been used on mixing an finished
version of the first album from Flowers of Yes!
with vocals as well as preparing our live debut at Fanø Free
Folk Festival 2010. Hopefuly we can get this out in some form soon,
though weather it will be on The Cat Box Corp. or somewhere else is an
open question at the moment. There is also an EP of house-remixes on
the way, and other stuff also...
The
same goes for our new project Distortion Girls, that made it's first
apprerence at Festival of Endeless Gratitude 2010. A video of that
event can be found on the band's page
here at the CBC (or at FaceBook),
where
you also can find the first in a series of music videos made in
collabration with the Dansh video artist Søren Meisner.
Distortion Girls is also busy working on their debut album.
Søren has also made a wicked video for Boy on Boy, which can be
found here. A
debut from Boy on Boy is also still being worked on.
Pink
Luminous Invocation is taking a small break at the moment, but has a
reisuse of their first cdr out as an LP on Sagittarius A-star. A
selection of the handpained covers we made can be found here.
In
relased news I have been busy mixing and arranging an album for the
singer Jacob Faurholt, which is out now. You can listen/buy at Raw Onion Records.
At the moment I'm putting the finishing touches on an album by Red
Shifter...more news to follow about this.

Well, 2009 became a slow year for the Cat Box Corp, with no new
releases at all, and the label will probably continue to lay somwat low
doing at least the first half of 2010 also. We ARE still here, though,
and orders can still be placed. It's all a question of getting to the
negative end of the both of the time/money-axes, and my growing
frustration with the cdr as medium and the cdr-label as concept. Lots
of wonderful cdr-labels out there releasing amazing stuff, but
personaly I'm begining to grow a little tired of the whole handmade
spend-ages-making-50-copies-deal - wanting to put that little time I
have away from regular work into making music instead of making
packaging. So: If by any means I can pull the money together 2010
might see the first real-cd-with-printed-covers-release from the Car
Box, but it's going to be summer at the earliest, before anthing
happens...
Stuff might happen and news be posted before, as lots of interesting things happening in the music end of the Corp. Lots of work has gone into the music of Flowers Of Yes! as the project is starting to move into several new directions at once, the most dramatic being the addition of Tanja and Marie (from Pink Luminous Invocation / Tender Buttons / etc. etc.) to the project, which as a consequence has undergone a change from doing mostly intrumental drones/impro to mostly song based material - as in with actual melodies and all...though still pretty drone/impro-based. We have recorded a lot of new (and great!) material and is actually considering paying to get a proper mastering for once, so some sort of teaser on cdr might appear before a actual pressed cd (or more vinyl!). A series of more house-based remixes is also in the works, as is new stuff from Exquisite Russian Brides, the ressurection of The Cat Box Quartet, stuff from Boy On Boy and more...so buttom line: Lot a time spend making new music, not so much time spend making new releases. As usual: Watch this space - or sign up for the very irregular newletter.

Ok, a little off in the guessing. CBC19 out now - and before CBC18 -
since the artwork for the debut from Flowers Of Yes! was finished
first. Expect the same high style packaging as for Heavenly
Flowers... The Exquisite Russian Blues Duo will follow very soon
in a nice mini-DVD-box like PLIs Pink Fuck. Apart from this
the label has been laying a bit low, since I've been busy with a
performance project based on Samuel Becketts great - though
overlooked - novel Ill Seen Ill Said, playing right now here in
Copenhagen. Gonna keep things a little more up the following time, with
the rather delayed release of ERBDs Darlin' Nikki, a studio recording -
A Galaxy Of War Songs - by Flowers Of Yes!, and various new projects,
on which more news to follow later...
29/06/08
CBC17 - Exquisite Russian Brides: Heavenly Flowers Of Spring is out
now! Guessing mid-July for CBC18 (Exquisite Russian Blues Duo) and
mid-August for CBC19 (Flowers Of Yes!).

After lugging big pieces of very heavy cardboard though the city
this afternoon, I though I might as well give a short update of the
comming wonders of The Cat Box Corp. Said cardboard is for the
upcomming release by Exquisite Russian Brides titled "Heavenly Flowers
Of Spring" featuring 30 min of semi-live synth/loop/accordion-workout
in our most extravagant package since the original vesion of Tender
Buttons, just wait and se... It's gotta be real time consuming, so
we're probably not gonna make too many of these. We'd love to get
1000s of copies printed in this style (and none of this cdr-crap!) if
ever we'd got the finacial recurces, but for now we're stuck with the
handmade. Fuck all DIY-romanticism!
Apart from that: Two other releases finished and just awaiting design and assembly: First - Flowers Of Yes! gives us their debut full length "The Hystrical Process Of Infinite Repeat - vol. 1", probably sewed into something soft and colorfull to match their heavy drones and flowery impro. Second - The Exquisite Russian Blues Duo (= Exquisite Russian Brides featuring guitar genius Tanja Jessen) drop a lovely 19 min. folk/free version of "Darlin' Nikki" (yes, the one from "Purple Rain") on a 3"-cdr housed in the same cool kind of mini-DVD-box that housed PLIs "Pink Fuck". All in all we're set for a lovely summer.

And as promised, lots of stuff out now: Czarny Dym by Exquisite Russian
Brides (check MySpace for sounds untill I get around to putting
somthing up here) and The Pink Sea by Pink Luminous Invocation on Sloow
Tapes. And Sings The Blues, also by PLI, which came and quicky sold out
also on Not Not Fun. More to follow soon...
05/02/08
Not dead, only sleeping...close to being finished: two new albums by
Exquisite Russian Brides - Ptasie Mleczko and Czarny Dym - as well
as the debut from The Exquisite Russian Blues Duo in the form of a 20
min take on "Darling Nikki" and the debut from Flowers Of Yes! which
might perhaps come in the form of more than one cdr...we'll see... And
in the meantime watch out for two fortcomming tapes by Pink Luminous
Invocation - Sings The Blues on Not Not Fun and The Pink Sea on Sloow
Tapes - both to be out sometime in the spring.
10/10/07
Out now: Pink Fuck by Pink
Luminous Invocation as well as The End Of The World by The
President´s Heart (on A Beard Of
Snails). Comming soon: New stuff from Exquisite Russian Brides, a
re-working of the soundtrack to Forvandlinger (the
performance mentioned below), and last but not least the debut
album from Flowers Of Yes! (who can be previewed here)
03/06/07
Various updates: A limited 3"-cdr from Exquisite Russian Brides is
comming in the near future, along the with the solo debut of Marie A
Jensen (Tender Buttons / Pink Luminous Invocation). The President's
Hearts new (and final) album - The End Of The World - is also almost
finished and will be released on the BSBTA-sublabel A Beard Of Snails soon.
Pink
Luminous Invocation is working hard on a mix of "Pink Grind"
(hopefully out soon somewhere) and preparing for concerts at
Umeå and Nordberg
Festival this summer.
September will
also see the debut of a performance based on Kafka's short story The
Metamorphosis by the Danish performance group Materiens Mysterier, for
which I have made the music (very much in the vein of recent work
by Exquisite Russian Brides). It will play from 07/09/07 to
14/09/07 and there is info and ticket ticket sale here. More
updates will follow, but be sure to make a note of the dates!
18/03/07
A lot of the comming-soon-on-other-labels items is out now: The Pink

Not
Fun in a beautiful
silk-screened
(and very limited) box on Not Not Fun and the
Exquisite Russian Brides/Elektronavn split 7" in special handmade

Also
Magnus Majmon of Elektronavn and Pink Luminous Invocation has a
new webside/label up and running
, and is promising/threatning to put out a Exquisite Russian Blues
Duo-cdr in the near future. Bites from the very nice reviews from The
Sound Projector is up on the relevant pages, and I've added some nice
new pictures of PLI also.

A new cdr by Pink Luminous Invocation - "Pink Fog" - will be out on Not Not Fun in limited/special
packaging somewhere in March. Meanwhile the band is working hard on new
material going in other directions than the drones they're known(?)
for, updates of which can be heard at their MySpace...
Also a bunch of nice reviews of our recent and not so recent releases
in the new issue of the always great Sound Projector Magazine.
Thanks!

Old news really, but a unreleased track by The Cat Box Quartet was used
as the soundtrack for a shot film in the Copenhagen Video Marathon
2006, that was among the nominees in the final, and can be viewed here. (It's a flash-site, so I
can't always get the direct
link
to work, but look for Nominees 2006 and then D315)
07/11/06
Tender Buttons has a new track out on the very-soon-to-be-released
Anybody's Anthems: a tribute to David Neuer's "Mr. Anybody's Anthems"

Buttons contribute "7 Quarter Choir Song" complete with acoustic
guitars, acordion, primitive percussion and glorious 3-part harmony.

Last news about the concert at Literaturhaus the comming sunday: The
line up is now Pink Luminous Invocation, showcasing some heavy new
material, along with Exquisite Russian Blues and a special solo set by
Elektronavn off-shot Majmon Sings. It all starts at 8PM, hope to see
you there...
10/10/06
Pink Luminous Invocation, who's debut recording is out on foxglove
now, are soon recording at Literaturhaus,
a
former church turned music venue with great acoustics, and since we
have to drag all our gear to the place anyway, a concert is going to
take place the day before the recording featuring a solo set by
Exquisite Russian Brides as well as a set by Exquisite Russian Blues (=
Marc & Tanja in duo mode, probably doing one of their infamous 25
min Prince covers) alongside a set by Elektronavn (=Magnus from PLI).
The date is Sunday, November 5th, the adress is Literaturhaus, M?ade 8,
Copenhagen, and it's gonna be great!
07/10/06
