Exquisite Russian Brides: To increase in size (CBC-VINYL01)
This, the probably most psychedelic release from Exquisite Russian Brides yet, contains two 26 min live tracks by Exquisite Russian Brides recorded at "Literaturhaus" (a former church in Copenhagen) overdubbed with studio sessions and tightly edited to attempt some kind of "definite" version of these songs. The title song a solo performance by main bride Marc Kellaway on various instruments and voice, joined halfway through by free violinist Marie Jensen, first from the balcony though a small amplifier, then circling the audience with Kellaway (also on violin) while a thunderstorm plays on small tape recorders. The second song a 2-part duet for organ and accordion (Kellaway) and electric guitar (Tanja Jessen) moving from a soft wall of noise towards melody and back again. The Sound Projector wrote in issue 15, 2007: "(...) Besides being tinged with am attractive bittersweet melancholy, both pieces convey a fantastic sense of scale - of tallness and height on the first track, of breadth and distance on the recond. A vertical followed by a horizontal, as it were, both spreading upwards an onwards into infinite distances. It's like entering a vast cathedral of the mind. Fans of Ashtray Navigations and Organum will appreciate these deep drones and massive sounds, the chiming, groaning, and lurching movement of it all, as gargantuan abstract shapes form out of thin air and collide in slow motiuon." Another review (in Danish) can be found here.
Available on cdr and vinyl. First cdr-edition with handpainted covers in jewelcase and slightly longer edits out of print. Second edition in handmade cardboard-digiback with prints similar to the LP. 2 tracks / 46 minutes on cdr and LP.
